With all of the technology involving banking and financial accounts, everyone is beginning to wonder, "Are banks becoming obsolete?" While there are many arguments on both sides, many of the current financial trends (and technology trends) indicate that we could be closer then we think to this scenario. What will it take for us to cross the line or reach the point when we no longer need banks at all?

Turning Off Your Credit Cards: How New Technology Will Help Stop Fraud

Many of us have been victimized in some form with credit fraud, especially if you shopped at Target or one of the other companies involved in the December 2013 credit card fraud. Even if you don’t lose money, it is very inconvenient  to obtain new credit cards. Plus, the identity theft will have access to your personal information. They can use this to open new accounts in your name and easily damage your credit score.

Are New Technologies Replacing Credit Cards?

Technology is advancing and so is your credit card. Visa and MasterCard announced separately on Wednesday that they would be introducing Internet-based technologies to make it easier for shoppers to buy things at retail stores. Instead of pulling out a credit card, consumers will have a mobile app to make purchases. There will be no need to swipe a card or put in a PIN number.The customer can just make a purchase by tapping the phone to a store’s card reader.
